Checked Baggage Screening

To improve your security when travelling around Australia, the Australian Government has intoduced the security screening of all checked baggage on Australian domestic passenger jet flights, and any other flight departing from the same apron during a jet's operational period. To ensure checked items do not contain explosive materials or improvised explosive devices, your checked baggage may be screened in a number of ways, including:
  • X-ray examination;
  • testing for explosive residues using Explosive Trace Detection equipment; or
  • physical search.
